Challenge #280 - Inspired By: Your favorite things to do in January

Hello, friends of Time Out. Welcome back! If you are a newcomer to Time Out Challenges, we extend a very warm welcome to you. We're glad you are here.

We have a new challenge that opens today and runs through January 29. It is an "Inspired By" challenge which is a new challenge in our rotation. With each of our "Inspired By" challenges this year, the challenge title will be "Inspired by your favorite...". This time we want you to be inspired by one or more of your favorite things to do in January and to reflect it in your project. 

Think about an activity you enjoy where you live: a sport, beverage, hobby, place to go, things to read, music to play... It can also be someplace you like to travel to for something you can't do where you live... For example, our southern hemisphere players might wish to go skiing in the Alps and our northern hemisphere players may want to go lie on a beach in the Caribbean... you get the picture. Please be sure to explain your choice in your post.

"Hi! My name is Verena, and I live in Ottawa, Canada. I originally started papercrafting about 20 years ago, but as a mom of three life got too busy, and I never fully got into it. During Covid I suddenly had all this spare time available, so I decided to give cardmaking another try. Well, I haven't been able to stop since! I tend to lean towards clean and simple cards. My life can be pretty chaotic, and there's just something incredibly calming about clean lines and white space. I absolutely love card challenges. They push me out of my comfort zone and make me look at my stash differently. Thank you everyone at

Challenge #279 - Theme: Beginnings

Before we begin with our first challenge of 2025, we have a new Design Team Member to introduce...

Welcome to the Time Out Family, our frequent player, Carol McFarland! 

I'm sure Carol's blog Saw it. Had to Make It is familiar to many of you from card challenges. She is such a wonderful source of inspiration for us all. If you however are new to Carol's blog, make sure to visit Saw it. Had to Make It and leave her some love. We are excited that Carol was able to join us and can't wait to see her creative DT projects. Thank you and welcome, Carol! 

A couple of words about the upcoming year. 2025 marks the beginning of 12th year of Time Out Challenges and to celebrate we have made a couple of exciting changes to our challenge rota! We are saying goodbye to 'Inspired by Words' and 'We Challenge You to Be' and welcoming 'Pick Two' and 'Inspired by'.

Now finally onto our first challenge of 2025 which opens today and runs through January 15th. It is a Theme challenge in which the theme is "BEGINNINGS".

"My name is Ellen and I live in Georgia (USA). I've been papercrafting for about two decades, starting with scrapbooking. Once I was introduced to card making (specifically heat embossing), my scrapbooks soon fell behind.  I work full time to support my habit, and I appreciate Time Out challenges that spark my creativity and encourage a starting off point when I am otherwise uninspired! I am honored to guest design for the first Time Out challenge of the year. Thanks!"

Challenge #278 - Photo Inspiration

Hello friends of Time Out. Welcome back, and we extend a very warm welcome to newcomers to Time Out Challenges!

We are here with our final challenge of 2024 and with warm wishes for a wonderful holiday season, whatever that may look like to you and yours. Happy New Year to all, and may 2025 bring lots of love and light to your life. For those who may be struggling at this time, may the light of the season bring warmth and love and peace into your home and your heart with hope for the year ahead.

We bid a fond farewell to Greta, who is stepping down from her Design Team position at Time Out with this challenge. We are sad to see her go, but this is what is best for her, and that is most important to us. Greta is such a kind and wonderful person, and a fabulous cart artist. We will miss her, but she will still be present in the cardmaking world, and we look forward to seeing her creations in our community and hopefully she will take Time Out to join us in our gallery when she is inspired and able to do so.

 Time Out Challenge #278 opens today and runs through December 18th. This time it is a Photo Inspiration Challenge in celebration of all December Holidays around the world. You can use all or anything from the photo, or you can create anything that depicts a/the holiday that you celebrate at this time of year. Please tell us about your holiday in your post if it is not obvious in your creation.

 Look for our Winners Post on December 26th. Our first challenge of 2025 will go live on January 2, 2025.
